•These tips may help with future applications:
• Sending general CVs to lots of different arts
organisations rarely proves fruitful and can be very disheartening. Most arts organisations advertise their jobs in the press or online and only recruit to advertised vacancies.
• Research as much as you can about the job/organisation before applying to ensure it’s the right job for you and you have the right skills and experience to offer.
• Where possible type your CV or application form and ensure all spelling and grammar is correct.
• Be clear, accurate and concise (don’t lie or exaggerate).
• Remember to highlight where your skills,
knowledge and experience match those required in the job/person specification.
• Sell the relevant experience you gained in both paid and volunteer work.
• Don’t forget to say why you want the job and how it fits into your career aspirations.
• If unsuccessful at any stage of your application ask for feedback – this may help with future application.
• If you can afford it you may want to volunteer your services for free – this is a great way to gain experience. |
